Castor Oil Is Important For Better Skin Health
Castor bean (Ricinus communis) plants are native to tropical Africa and have become naturalized throughout warm areas of the world. Castor oil is produced by cold pressing ripe beans and then applying heat, ensuring a pure and natural oil without any residual solvents. The final product is hexane free and safe to use on your body and hair.

The beans contain small amounts of ricin a toxin, which is potentially deadly in concentrated amounts. Ricin is part of the waste material produced when castor oil is made.

Benefits Of Castor Oil

Castor oil is a selective type of triglyceride fatty acid, with nearly 90 percent of its fatty acid substance is ricinoleic acid, which is an unsaturated omega-9 fatty acid. Ricinoleic acid has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and pain relieving properties.

The benefits of castor oil for your skin are really amazing. It’s frequently used as a replenishing moisturizer for all natural skincare.

Castor is a key ingredient in many hair growth serums, eyelash lengthening remedies and dandruff shampoo. When you use 100% pure hexane free oil, it easily absorbs into your skin, lashes, and brows to boost hair growth. It can help your skin and hair retain moisture so they don’t get dry.

This oil is a lymphatic stimulant and is known for its strong purging and detoxing properties.
Castor oil has many health benefits, in this article I’m focusing on the benefits for your skin.

Anti-aging & Wrinkles

Castor oil contains antioxidants that fight free radical molecules in your body. Free radicals damage cells causing inflammation. They are responsible for accelerating the aging process, making wrinkles appear sooner. Castor oil contains fatty acids that have moisturizing, skin health enhancing and antioxidant properties.

People often use castor oil topically to reduce wrinkles and to tighten sagging skin, keeping skin looking younger. This oil has emollient properties known to help improve your skin’s texture and healthy appearance. These fatty acids may also help minimize wrinkles.

I’ve been using castor oil on my face for about a month now and I can definitely see a big difference in my skin. The fine lines are less noticeable, my skin tone has evened out and acne has healed.

Reduces Eye Puffiness

Swollen, puffy eyes can result from inflammation that draws fluid to the area. Castor oil has anti-inflammatory properties, which can help reduce swelling and puffiness. It could reduce the size of eye bags as well.

Fights acne

Acne happens when hair follicles get blocked with sebum. Sebum is an oily substance produced by your body to keep skin moisturized. When sebum mixes with dead skin cells and bacteria, it causes inflammation and acne.

Castor oil has antibacterial properties which are beneficial in combating acne, bacteria and fungi. A 2012 study listed in PubMed noted castor oil extract has significant potential in preventing disease causing bacteria and fungi from growing.

Because of its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, this oil is an effective natural remedy for mild to moderate cases of acne. Open your pores with warm water then massage a little castor oil into the affected areas of your face each night before bed. You can leave it work overnight before rinsing it off the next morning.

Moisturizes Skin

Your skin needs to maintain a healthy balance of natural oils to stay hydrated and prevent dryness, itchiness and flakes.

The ricinoleic acid is a natural moisturizer. It’s a fatty emollient that boosts skin barrier function and helps keep your skin feeling soft and looking healthy.  These types of fats can be used to moisturize your skin. They provide a protective seal over skin and lock in hydration, preventing or reducing water loss through the outer layer of your skin.

The oil also helps boost the production of collagen and elastin, which is important for healthier, stronger skin.

To moisturize your skin, mix some castor oil with another oil like olive oil or jojoba oil in a 1 to 3 ratio and gently massage it into your face each evening. You can also use this oil to treat cracked heels by applying it to your heels before bedtime and covering your feet with socks overnight.

Supports the Lymphatic System

Castor oil improves lymphatic function, blood flow and thymus gland health. The oil stimulates your lymph system to expel metabolic waste from your body. When you have drainage problems or flow disruptions, the oil can help get lymph moving again. Applying castor oil packs to your lymph nodes allows your body to absorb the oil quickly.

The ricinoleic acid in castor oil targets your lymphatic system, helping your body produce or increase the production of lymphocytes. Lymphocytes are the body’s natural disease fighter, ridding the body of toxins and bacteria.

You can use castor oil in a couple of different ways. Apply it directly to the skin, use it through a castor oil pack or mix it with other oils to use it as a topical remedy.
